Frequently Asked Questions

How does therapy work?

Patients will be taught exercises that help strengthen and restore proper function of the lips, tongue, and facial muscles. Improving muscle function helps prevent, manage, and treat problematic symptoms such as sleep apnea, crooked teeth, jaw pain, and speech articulation and clarity.

How many sessions are usually required?

Therapy is typically 12 sessions. However, it can be more or less depending on the condition being treated and types of habits being addressed.

How long does each session take?

The initial comprehensive exam takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Patient therapy sessions are 45 minutes long. These sessions are carefully and specifically designed for each patient and their needs.

Do you offer Telehealth?

Telehealth is a way to provide healthcare services through the internet. Myofunctional therapy can effectively be practiced with the use of Telehealth, which is a benefit during the COVID-19 pandemic. Telehealth utilizes video conferencing to provide instant communication and feedback.

How is it possible to do therapy through video conference and not in-person?

Your initial comprehensive exam will be in-person. At that appointment a full assessment will be done and a treatment plan provided. Subsequent therapy sessions can be done over video conference. All sessions can be done in person if desired.
